Another Bad Dream

I seldom have bad dreams but when I do, it sure is a bad dream that sometimes come true.  Does that also happen to you?

In my dream, these two weird events happened in my grandparents' old house built in the 1950s, which happens to be where my house is currently at.  I don't know how exactly my dream started but I remembered that in the old kitchen just beside the comfort room, an exhibit of some sort is happening.  I looked inside the glass walled viewing area and there is this something that looks like a dinosaur's bones and lying above it is an unconscious creature, ogre-like, being observed by a scientist.  I waited, together with other spectators, to what will happen to the creature.  Minutes passed and at last the creature's fingers started to make some movement and before we could even ask the man inside the viewing area, it immediately got up and wandered around.  I was shocked and couldn't believe my eyes that I went out to catch some air.  Outside, I saw a friend and we chatted, exchanged some stories because we haven't seen each other for quite some time.  I heard a really loud noise, like an airplane that is about to take off, I looked back and it really was an airplane in a really bad taking off situation. I said to myself that something bad will happen to that plane... and the next few seconds after that thought was something that anyone wouldn't want to see.  The plane took off and right in front of me and my friend, the plane split in two.  The tail part rolled towards us and then we run as fast as we can to take cover, we survived but my friend had minor injuries.  A man came running towards us who I believe is the scientist.  She carried my friend and took her to a safer place to wait for the ambulance.  All the while I thought that it is over but the cockpit part came rolling towards me and I run fast to get out of its way... I survived but I saw my left feet drenching in blood.  I looked around to where the plane crashed and I noticed that everything surrounding the crash site was damaged except for my grandparents' house.  The scientist came running towards me and carried me to where my friend is.  I looked at  his name plate and I read his surname... Navia...  something like that.  Upon reaching the house, someone gave him a card that certifies that the creature is a new discovery and it is named after him.  I passed out afterward.

I looked for some possible interpretation of my dream and here is what I have found:

House - represents me.

Kitchen - being the heart of the house, it represents emotional needs and feelings towards another person.

Scientist - need for understanding.

Ogre - criticism.

Running away - strong desire to avoid something that is negative or a strong resistance to change.

Airplane - represent desires, freedom or a dominant male in my life (I wasn't a passenger nor the pilot in my dream) taking full control.

Airplane taking off - means I am about to embrace a great challenge that promises great reward.

Crash - symbolizes feeling of helplessness and being not in control.

Blood from foot - means physical ailment or worries.

Foot - there are problems within the family that I am deeply concerned about.

I can say that these meanings actually make sense in what is happening in my life right now.

Change of Name

Do you visit my other blog, Social Vibe?  Well, I changed the title to Where The Wind Blows because I found out  that a non-profit organization's name is Social Vibe.  The URL to the blog is the same and you would still land on the same blog--everything is new there, the layout, the title and new entries after three months of letting it rot in my dashboard.  I am giving it more than the attention it needs now so take a look.

Thanks for dropping by!

Goodbye, Simon!

Who would've thought that this season of American Idol is Simon Cowell's last?

One of my main reasons for watching American Idol is to hear Simon's straightforward comments to the contestants.  His comments are sometimes harsh but he is just preparing them for the harshness of the entertainment industry.  Now that Simon will no longer be seen on Season 10 and the coming seasons, AI,will never be the same again.  I'd still watch AI but I doubt that it'll be as fun to watch now that Simon is gone on the show.  I hope the producers of the show will ask him todrop by from time to time.  I will surely miss his British accent, his wardrobe that includes the basic pants and shirts, his toothy smile and of course his comments.

To take a look at Simon's almost nil transformation throughout the years of American Idol, click here.

Goodbye, Simon!

Lee DeWyze: 2010 American Idol

It is official, Lee DeWyze is the winner of American Idol Season 9.

Lee has been one of my favorites of the season aside from Casey James, Siobhan Magnus, and Michael Lynche.  This 25-year old guy from Illinois beat Crystal Bowersox--the early favorite of the season.  His best performances of the season were Shania Twain's You're Still the One, Kiss From A Rose by Seal and his duet with Crystal, Falling Slowly.

Many are doubting if he deserves to win but let's give the guy a chance... he has the looks and talent.

Diapers + Jeans

Are those diapers actually made of jeans?  I am confused a little bit.  I bought Huggies diapers last week and they are not made of jeans fabric---just printed like jeans.  I actually find them cute and my son likes it also, he thinks those are briefs that he removes them if he will pee or poop.

Food for Thoughts: Speaking Well of Others

If you say you are religious, yet you do not know when to shut your mouth, you are just making a fool of yourself.

Random Clicks: Villa Buenaflor Beach Resort

We will have a seminar tomorrow and one of my tasks from being a coordinator is to make sure the venue is perfect so I checked it today together with my colleague.  A lot of things have changed since the last time we had a seminar in Villa Buenaflor Beach Resort in Brgy. Calibuyo, Tanza, Cavite and I wouldn't miss the chance of having some clicks before we call it a day.

This is the view from the 2nd floor of the newly built hotel facing Manila Bay and Bataan Province.

The Corregidor Island in Bataan is just an hour away from Villa Buenaflor.

The rows of acacia trees give shade to the spacious resort.

Lush greens surrounding the resort.

Favorite Photo of the Day: Great Great Grandpa's Lap

That's my son when he was 6 months old having some photo-op with our great grandpa (Lance's great great grandpa) while he was lounging at the terrace on his favorite rocking chair.  I could still remember, as if only happened yesterday, that whenever he hears my son cry (grandpa's vision was impaired because of his age) he would  ask if I have fed him or maybe my son is sleepy or is wet or pooped.  Everything he would tell me about my son for me isn't scolding but caring and loving.  I thank God for giving my son a chance to be with our great grandpa even for just a short while.  He died on July 17, 2009 and we will miss him forever.

Finding the Perfect Nanny

Months before I gave birth to my son, aside from the many other concerns a parent has, I was already concerned about who will take care of him when I start working again.  I asked my grandmother if she could recommend someone to be my son's nanny during daytime.  Lucky for me, we have networks and good neighbors to assist me in finding the perfect nanny.

Finding a nanny is as hard as mining gold.  Everything has to be planned accordingly like if I have enough budget for the salary, what benefits should I give, the rules that needs to be followed and all sorts of things crucial to my child's welfare.  I have heard many stories about abusive nannies and nannies who are being abused and I don't want these horrible stories to happen in my household.

I have read many tips on how to find a nanny but so far, this article gives the best and straightforward tips that are easy to apply.

The Search - a wide network helps in finding a nanny.  Recommendation by friends and relatives is one of the best ways to source a nanny because they know first hand the attitude and behavior of the one they are recommending.

The Budget - if you are tight on a budget but in dire need of a nanny, one option is to share nanny with a friend or a relative.

The Qualification - ideally, a nanny should have a proper training but if in case finding one would take some time, hire someone who has had years of nurturing a child--a mother.  Mothers know what is best for their children, if your nanny is also a mother, more or less she knows what kind of love and care you want for your child.

The Means - although you have networks, also take time to advertise for you to have options.  Advertising doesn't mean newspaper or television ads, a little sign in front of your house or the corner coffee shop would be great places to place your ads.

If All Else Fails - contact an agent and they will do everything for you.  The only thing that you should do is to look for an agent with a good reputation.

Another tip that I can give you is if you see anything wrong the first time, find another nanny.  It is a tedious process but you have to do everything to protect your child.

Here Comes the Bride: A Crazy Soul Mix Up

Chris Martinez gives us another tear jerking comedy movie with Eugene Domingo as one of the lead stars.  I saw Here Comes the Bride yesterday with my office mates and we laughed from the beginning until the end.  It was really hilarious!  It is probably my second favorite comedy movie of all time--KimmyDora being my most favorite.

It is a story of five individuals whose lives were changed after a fateful accident on the Magnetic Road of Rizal one morning at exactly the same time a total solar eclipse occurred--all of them are heading to the resort to witness a beach wedding.  When they arrived at the resort, the five souls (Angelica Panganiban, Eugene Domingo, Jaime Fabregas, Tuesday Vargas and John Lapus) got all mixed up.  Angelica's soul transferred to Eugene's body while hers moved to Tuesday's, Tuesday's went to Jaime's,  Jaime's soul entered John's body, and John's soul to Angelica's.

Angelica plays the role of a shy, virginal girl who is about to have a beach wedding to Jaime's grandson played by Tom Rodriguez.  Her soul was transferred to her Ninang' Precy's, played by Eugene, who is an intelligent lawyer whose relationship is existent only with her dogs.  Eugene's soul on the other hand, entered Tuesday's--a poor nanny of the bratty ring bearer who sets aside her personal happiness because of her financial responsibility to her family.  Having this problem, Tuesday's soul transferred to Jaime's who is a millionaire but is too old and sickly.  Since Jaime wants to regain his youth and vigor, his soul transferred to John's--a gay beautician who wishes to be a woman to experience true love.  True enough, his soul moved to Angelica's body.

Experiencing the life that they wished for their own, except for Angelica's, is where the trouble begins.  Angelica (inside Eugene's) finds her way to finding the mixed up souls and sought the help of Kim Atienza--the 'walking encyclopedia', to get themselves back into their normal lives, but getting back isn't that easy because they have to reenact the accident that put them into trouble and that means waiting for the total solar eclipse.  The five had to endure two years of living outside their own bodies.

What happened after their waiting is up for you to discover.

If you want to break free of all the negative vibrations surrounding you, this movie will surely do the trick because you will just laugh and laugh until your cheeks hurt.

I mentioned that this movie is my second favorite movie of all time so I will give it 9 out of 10 stars.

Side Note:  Tom Rodriguez is so handsome!  How many more handsome men will Eugene Domingo kiss?  Life isn't fair.

Guide to Gaydom

I have many gay friends and I wonder why they are called gay.  Was it because they are naturally happy and jolly?  I will not spend much time searching for the answer, all I know is that they make me laugh and they teach me so many things about life.

I was never an anti-gay or anti-lesbian, I actually don't consider them as different from the rest of us who are "straight", it just so happens that they have different preferences.  I have heard many a sad stories about them being afraid of coming out because their family might disown them and much more triumphant stories of them being accepted.  I remember one of my friends who 'straightens up' whenever he's at home but 'loosens up' whenever he's with us.  It is sad that in front of his family, he becomes a different person.

I am glad that they are now being accepted for who they are and that more and more are starting to come out and share their experience to the world.  I have found this site that will somehow help my dear friends about their journey and they can  even share their experience through the site... consider it as their guide to gaydom.

Blog Entry of the Day: An Email by Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld, yes the famous fashion designer, received an email from a certain Naomi Sanders who is opening a shopping website for "comfortable fashion and ugg boots".  He asked Karl, and all other who received the same email, to mention her site in their websites and in return she would gladly pay them $55 via PayPal.  There is nothing wrong with asking a little help from a fashion and style guru such as Karl but he replied something that is at the borderline of unexpected.  Want to know what it is?  Click here... it was funny!

Favorite Photo of the Day: Guard Hunting

My son badly needs some rest after walking for about an hour looking for the guard who has the entrance ticket to the pool area.  Of course the entrance ticket was just a made up story to lure him out of swimming again because it was already 10 in the evening.  After getting tired of looking for the guard he said, "Mommy, let's go home."

Greyson Michael Chance "Paparazzi" Version

I had major goosebumps from beginning until the end of Greyson Michael Chance's version of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi.  Justin Bieber, behold, think of other strategies or better yet move aside because this boy is really good!  Did I just say I had goosebumps again???  His version is wicked and Lady Gaga wouldn't not be disappointed that this guy rearranged it and made it his own.  I am the 11 millionth something who viewed his video on You Tube and you can watch it too right here.

Favorite Photo of the Day: Can I Have A Bite?

I took this photo last Monday.  I accompanied my cousin and nieces to McDonald's for their 2nd of the last day as a Kiddie Crew.  While waiting for the two hours of their training, my son and I had a little snack.  I bought him a McNuggets Happy Meal and I chose Shrek as his free toy.  As you can see it is as if Shrek would like to have a bite of the nugget.

Philippines' 2010 National Election (Part 2)

Before I went to sleep, I accomplished my cheat note, I wrote all the numbers of the lucky politicians who will get my vote so that I will not stay long inside the voting precinct.  I set my alarm to 6 o'clock.  Well, I woke up when the clock hit 6 but I just ignored it and allowed myself a transition period of 30 minutes before I actually wake up.  Officially, I woke up at quarter to seven, relatively early compared to my normal waking up time.

I am off to the voting precinct after an hour and nothing and nobody prepared me for what I have to endure just to exercise my right.  Here are those things:

1. In the previous elections, there are at least 8 precincts open from 6 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon but this time it was different... the 8 were divided in half and that means a very long queue.

2. I have anticipated that lines would be long but I thought today's election is automated so it wouldn't be that hard.  I am wrong!  I waited for about two hours to get inside the precinct because of the many turns of our line.  Waiting outside seems like forever but thank goodness I saw familiar faces and we chatted the whole two hours to keep ourselves entertained.

3.  While waiting in line, I saw this self-proclaimed prominent person in our locality who has no positive things to say about the election.  He was talking to somebody, I have to eavesdrop, and he said it will be a failure, and that the Board of Election Inspectors should have made 4 lines because there are 4 precincts.  I wanted to butt in because he clearly doesn't understand what was going on (refer to number 1).  Why can't he be optimistic for the sake of the nation?  Before my temper got hold of me I had to divert my attention to a more light and optimistic conversation in front of me.

4.  I wished to be a senior citizen just for today because they don't have to wait in line for their turn.  My grandmas were inside while I was still out and sweaty.  It was 36 degrees Celsius and that made waiting even harder.  I could feel my sweat roll down my back.

5. The lighter and more optimistic conversation that I was talking about was the experience of an acquaintance inside the precinct.  She said it was fast and more organized compared last time.  I felt relieved.

6.  My name was listed in 0119B number 42.  I went inside the precinct, signed on the registered voters' list and they handed me a folder that contains a blank ballot and a special marker.  I chose to be seated in front and near the BEI's table in case I will have questions.  I took my my cheat note and read once again the instructions on how to fill out the ballot and inspected that it is really empty... better be safe than sorry.

7.  It took me less than 10 minutes to shade the ovals.  I was too careful not to shade outside the boarder because they said it will be rejected.  I actually felt like an elementary pupil thinking about all the precautions while shading the thinly bordered ovals.  I was concerned about our nanny whose hands are too shaky.  I wish she will not shade outside the boarder.

8.  I waited for my turn to insert the ballot in to the PCOS machine.  When it was my turn, the machine had an error.  I am still optimistic, I have to be, I don't want my ballot to be gone to waste.  I waited another five minutes and after three tries, the machine greeted me congratulations for casting my vote.  My index finger was marked with an indelible ink and I put my thumb mark on the registered voters' list confirming that I have voted.

I was the 154th person to vote in precinct  0119B and all I can say to the remaining 1100 who are waiting for their turn and to all other Filipinos in other precincts is to be patient because it is the day we will all decide on the fate of our nation.  Let us make history by exercising our right--our only right, I think, that makes us all equal.

Philippines' 2010 National Election (Part 1)

Five hours left before opening of the voting precincts in the Philippines and five hours left before we could test if the controversial PCOS Machine of Smartmatic will work flawlessly.  Wait for my next entry after I cast my vote.  Which reminds me, I still haven't written on my cheat pad the lucky politicians who will get my vote in just a few hours.  I need some divine intervention for this.

Iron Man 2

I watched Iron Man 2 today with my girl friends and I had a great time.  I wasn't able to watch the first one so I got a little bit confused at first.  I finally got the hang of it because the movie was so great.

After six months of admitting that the man behind the Iron Man suit is the CEO of Stark Industires, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), the US Government is still not convinced that he will and can maintain peace.  He was asked by Sen. Stern to hand over the suit because he believes that its technology might be copied and be used for terrorism.  Of course, Stark did not handed down the suit and proved that the senator's claims are actually to benefit his company's rival--Hammer.

Little did Stark know that his father wasn't the only one who had knowledge of the technology he's been using.  In the cold and icy part of Russia, Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), the son of his father's co-scientist knows the technology and is just waiting for the right time to claim what he believe was denied of them.

Believing that his time will end soon because the palladium that is keeping him alive is also slowly poisoning his body, he appointed Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) as the new CEO of Stark Industries.  Vanko's time for revenge came during the F1 race in Monaco where Stark was about to race.  Stark was dumbfounded that somebody else knew the technology.  Vanko was jailed but Hammer's CEO, Justin Hammer freed him and used his knowledge to finally put an end to Stark's technology.  Hammer didn't know that Vanko was just using him and his resources to fulfill his revenge.

In the verge of giving up in finding a cure to Stark's condition, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) of S. H. I. E. L. D. came and gave him an idea that would change the course of his life.  Nick Fury's "eye", Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson) updates him of Stark's activities.  His friend, Lt. Col. James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) became skeptical when Stark lost control of himself but came back to be his ally when he found out Hammer's and Vanko's plans.

I will not mention the ending because I recommend that you watch it.

I will give Iron Man 2 nine out of 10 stars.  By the way, Scarlett looked great in a cat suit.
