First Landing by Robert Zubrin

This is what I keeps me occupied this Holy Week.

Here is the summary of the story by Harriet Klausner.

After a year in space, the five-person team on board the Beagle are getting ready to land on Mars. The landing, like everything else that follows, does not go smoothly but it does get the astronauts there in one piece. Within the first few weeks there, they have found a gemstone that is harder than a diamond and microorganisms that prove there is life on the red planet.

The astronauts are elated by their discovery of life on Mars but on Earth, hysteria sets in, fanned by a popular writer and a televangelist. They fear that the astronauts will bring back some pandemic disease to earth. A fuel line leakage leaves them stranded on Mars and the president, who is up for reelection, is not pushing a rescue mission. This means that the five stranded Americans will have to find a way to get themselves off planet or die when their air and food runs out.

Robert Zubrin has written a science fiction that measures up to the works of Author C. Clarke and Robert Heinlein. The politics that are involved in a space mission are astounding to behold and the interactions of the five stranded people who have been cooped up together for three years ring true (ever share a house with another generation?). FIRST LANDING is a work of hope, written by a visionary who sees the possibilities in the not too distant future.

Dream Interpretation: Collapsing Building

I had a dream last night about a building collapsing with me and some other co-workers inside it.
We're cleaning up some rooms at the first floor while construction men, well, do their job in other parts of the building particularly the third floor. After hours of cleaning, my co-workers and I decided to call it a day and get our things at the third floor. When we got there, the building started to tilt and in just a few seconds, everything collapsed. None in the group got hurt as the floor we're standing on wasn't damaged, in fact, it slid down a slope while we still hold on to dear life. At the end of a downhill ride, we found ourselves on a lake. I saw some of my co-workers crying and calling for help.

To dream of cleaning, according to Dream Moods, implies you are overcoming major obstacles in life. You are moving ahead toward a new stage in your life.
To see a building in a dream is to see the self. How high you are in the building represents your …

Random Clicks: Villa Buenaflor Beach Resort

We will have a seminar tomorrow and one of my tasks from being a coordinator is to make sure the venue is perfect so I checked it today together with my colleague.  A lot of things have changed since the last time we had a seminar in Villa Buenaflor Beach Resort in Brgy. Calibuyo, Tanza, Cavite and I wouldn't miss the chance of having some clicks before we call it a day.
This is the view from the 2nd floor of the newly built hotel facing Manila Bay and Bataan Province.

The Corregidor Island in Bataan is just an hour away from Villa Buenaflor.

The rows of acacia trees give shade to the spacious resort.

Lush greens surrounding the resort.
